A BRIEF HISTORY OF BISHOP MARTIN’S ROYAL ACADEMY, GWADA (2023 – DATE)
Bishop Martin’s Royal Academy, Gwada is a private faith-based educational institution located in Gwada, Niger State, Nigeria. The academy was established in 2023 under the patronage of His Lordship, Most Rev. Dr. Martin Igwe Uzoukwu, the Catholic Bishop of Minna Diocese.
The school was founded with the vision of providing accessible, quality, and values-driven education to children in Gwada and its surrounding communities. It is committed to raising students who are academically sound, morally upright, and equipped for leadership and service.
Foundation and Administration (2023)
The academy commenced academic activities in 2023. From inception, the school adopted the Nigerian/British curriculum with strong emphasis on discipline, character formation, ICT, and Christian values.
The pioneer Principal of the Academy is Mr. John Adamihidu Bawa, who oversees the academic and administrative affairs of the institution.
Growth and Student Population (2023 – 2025)
Since its establishment, the academy has witnessed steady growth. As of 2025, the student population is distributed as follows:
- Nursery Section: 309 pupils
- Primary Section: 388 pupils
- Secondary Section: 131 students
Total Population: 828 pupils and students
The rapid growth within 2 years reflects the trust parents and the community have in the school’s mission.
Mission and Focus
The academy focuses on:
- Academic Excellence: Preparing students for common entrance, BECE, WAEC, and NECO.
- Character and Leadership: Instilling the values of integrity, service, and hard work in students.

From 2023 till date, Bishop Martin’s Royal Academy Gwada has positioned itself as a beacon of quality education in Gwada. Under the spiritual guidance of Bishop Martin Igwe Uzoukwu and the leadership of Principal John Adamihidu Bawa, the school continues to grow in population, infrastructure, and reputation as a center for learning and moral formation.
